“The Message”: Co-written by The Messenger, NoJo, and Ophia

“The Message”

Verse 1:

(written & performed by The Messenger)

So many people talkin’ ’bout these bad times;

They won’t walk the simplest path to be kind.

We can see all the ugly through the video vines:

Kids starting gang wars, bustin’ 4s, 5s, and 9s.

There’s poison in the water, air, body, soul, and mind.

They’re trying to squash the light; they’re tryin’ to stop my shine.

‘Cause if we gonna make it, common ground we must find.

Separation of a sovereign nation, time to redefine

Love. Peace. What’s above. What’s in me.

Embracing our diversity’s the only way through;

Time to realize what you love about me’s inside you.

Evolution of the soul; time to raise the vibration

From the young to the old, brother, sister, Star Nations;

‘Cause we’re all in this together, though they tell us we’re apart.

You can feel it getting better: tell your mind to ask your heart.

Chorus:

(written & performed by The Messenger with help from NoJo and Ophia)

Gotta be strong; hold tight.

‘Cause if we keep on separating, we won’t make it through the night.

Gotta give love; be light.

Because the message that we’re bringin’ is it’s all gonna be all right.

Verse 2:

(written & performed by NoJo)

Simple misunderstandings

Inflicting so much damage on this planet

And I can’t stand it, dammit

So much anger and they don’t know how to manage

If we fight the darkness with the light, we can vanquish,

Make it vanish.

All we need is to believe;

Like Martin Luther King, I’m an artist with a dream.

I started from the bottom, now I start to really see

That all we really need is some positivity.

Yeah we gotta breathe deep

And love one another

Just like Father, sister,

Mother, younger cousin, or a brother.

We’re all God’s children:

A heavenly family.

Together we can end the calamities of vanity,

Insanity,

Of homicides committed randomly,

Famine,

Of suicides because of bankruptcy;

We can save the manatees

& the canopy.

Thankfully, for humanity, love’s the best philanthropy.

Chorus:

Gotta be strong; hold tight.

‘Cause if we keep on separating, we won’t make it through the night.

Gotta give love; be light.

Because the message that we’re bringin’ is it’s all gonna be all right.

Verse 3:

(written & performed by Ophia)

We’re all taking turns feeling unheard.

It’s so simple to solve, it might sound absurd.

The media tells us we have much to fear,

But take off that filter and it all becomes clear.

This past election grew enemies

So now we need some new remedies.

We’ve been split apart, but it’s never too late

To reach out to each other and decide a new fate.

We feel the hurt and we feel the pain,

But we know in our hearts there’s much more to gain.

What separates us is inconsequential;

What unifies us will be reverential.

What if God is a He? What is God is a She?

I propose to you now that God is a WE.

We, the people, have love inside.

We, the people, refuse to hide.

Chorus:

Gotta be strong; hold tight.

‘Cause if we keep on separating, we won’t make it through the night.

Gotta give love; be light.

Because the message that we’re bringin’ is it’s all gonna be all right.
